Brain Based Movement Specialist
Fitness Trouble Shooter
I was introduced to kettlebells in 2009 when a member of the PT clinic I worked at brought in a 16kg bell to workout with. I watched him do a few sets of swings with this little toy and I think I laughed at him as I walked away. Later that day when the office was closed, I did a couple sets to see what this kettlebell toy was about, and it crushed me! Being strong all my life, having moved tons of weight around over the years (and having the injuries to prove it), a wide range of training experiences and education behind me, I thought I’ve seen it all.
Later that year, I earned my RKC instructor. By this time I had been around in this industry for 8 years putting in my time learning, I had trained professional athletes but the kettlebell change my focus. I wanted to learn how to move better, not just be strong, fast, powerful and share what I learn with people.
Kettlebells were just the start of my journey. I discovered Zhealth – neurological based training, Indian Clubs, clubbell, macebells, bodyweight, grip training….. I went down the rabbit hole. The farther I went down the rabbit hole the better I felt, my movement quality improved and I could do more outside the gym.
I have always been strong but at times that strength and power came at a cost. I may have been strong but I lacked the knowledge or desire to work on the little things that we all need to do in order to maintain balance. This balance keeps us mobile, healthy, happy so we can do more outside the gym and just play.
I look forward to meeting you, hearing your fitness story and helping you move better!
My Athletic Endeavors
I’ve done some interesting things to test my training, body and mind over the years. I love the process of changing the body and preparing the mind for what I’m asking it do. To test this, I have played college football, run marathons (never again), competed at a high level world record holder power lifter, completed too many GoRuck events and other things that I find challenging. I love the training! When I’m not working you can find me outside hiking, backpacking, riding my mountain bike, downtown having a beer and just enjoying life in Bend.
